Riello UPS Ltd and Pure Power Systems scoops Data Centre Energy Efficiency Project of the Year at DCS Awards 2016

Power protection expert Riello UPS Ltd has beaten off stiff competition to be crowned winner of the ‘Data Centre Energy Efficiency Project of the Year’ award at the prestigious DCS Awards 2016, held last night in London.

Taking place at London’s Grange St Paul’s Hotel, the DCS Awards is the leading event to recognise and acknowledge excellence in the data centre industry.

Accepting the award on behalf of its Irish distributor, Pure Power Systems, Riello UPS Ltd was recognised for its project to drive efficiencies for Ireland’s largest telecoms operator, eir. On behalf of Riello UPS Ltd, Pure Power Systems was appointed to provide the solution for eir’s backup power requirements in its two data centres as part of a €6.7m project.

For the first time, in recognition of his contribution to the industry, general manager Leo Craig was named runner up in hotly contended ‘Data Centre Individual of the Year’ category.

Receiving the award on behalf of Riello UPS Ltd, general manager, Leo Craig said, “We are extremely proud to be awarded this accolade of Data Centre Energy Efficiency Project of the Year, judged by our peers in the data centre industry.

The UPS market is evolving rapidly and we worked hard with our resellers, Pure Power Systems to deliver the best-in-class technology to ensure Riello’s Master High Efficiency (HE) made a significant contribution to the energy efficiency levels in the data centre, contributing to eir’s goal PUE figure of 1.3.

“A huge congratulations to all of the other winners on the evening which was truly enjoyed by all.”
