Electrical Review: 150th Anniversary Edition Celebrates 20 Years Of Riello UPS In UK

There’s a double celebration on the cards as we mark the 150th anniversary edition of Electrical Review magazine.

November 2022 marks 150 years since the first-ever edition of the influential trade bible Electrical Review. It is also the twentieth anniversary of Riello UPS in the UK.

To commemorate the double milestone, we took a trip down memory lane by revisiting some of the highlights from the last 20 years.

Riello UPS in the UK began when the Riello Elettronica Group acquired the UPS and service business side of Advance Electronics Ltd, Advance Galatrek.

The new company was initially known as Riello Galatrek Limited but was renamed as Riello UPS Ltd in 2006 due to the phenomenal success of the ‘Riello’ brand.

Continued growth saw the company move into our current home, a 27,500 sq ft purpose-built facility on Wrexham Industrial Estate in North Wales, in 2009.

And it’s from this state-of-the-art base, which has the UK’s biggest stockholding of UPS and spares, where we deliver an end-to-end service of comprehensive technical support and rapid product dispatch.

Our celebratory piece explores the rapid expansion of the Riello UPS product range over the years, including the introduction of our award-winning modular UPS Multi Power in 2015, our super-efficient NextEnergy range in 2017, and our third generation transformerless Sentryum series in 2019.

It also looks at how we’ve pushed the boundaries in terms of aftercare and customer service.

Riello UPS maintenance coverage was already synonymous throughout the industry as the ‘gold standard’, with 100% guaranteed response times, no hidden charges, and contracts tailored to customers’ needs.

But in 2018 we went one step further with our pioneering ‘Diamond’ coverage, the first in the UK to commit not only to a response time within 4 hours but a fix within a further 8 hours too, no ifs or buts.

The following year we again led the way by introducing a 5-year extended warranty as standard on all UPS up to and including 3 kVA, going above and beyond the 1, 2, or 3-year guarantees available from other manufacturers.

In addition to our historical article, we also commissioned a special one-off advertisement for our Multi Power range designed in the style of a promo from 1872.
